Black Bear Mountain Stone ledge stone aspen is made up of a variety of irregular shapes and sizes and roughly textured to create its rugged appeal. This versatile pattern will create a dramatic impression on the interior or exterior of your next project. This profile was created using a unique blend of natural stones. Ledge stone can also be blended with field stone to create an old-style rustic look. Ledge stone is a stone veneer product measuring 1" to 2" thick and therefore thinner than traditional stone siding for easier, lighter handling. All our manufactured stone veneer products are suitable for interior applications such as stone accent walls or stone fireplaces as well as exterior applications such as stone veneer siding. Black Bear Mountain Stone ledge stone is available in boxes of 10 square foot flats, boxes of 7.5 lineal foot matching corners, and 150 square foot bulk crates.

Questions & Answers

Have a Question?

Ask a question
  • How do I install this stone veneer?

Thank you for your question and interest in our stone veneer. Our installation instructions can be downloaded at https://blackbearmountainstone.com/pages/post-purchase-support. For the surface prep, which is the most important step, you will need to install a moisture barrier and then install wire lath over that. Make sure the nails or screws for wire lath hit studs to ensure a good foundation. Your scratch coat goes over the wire lath and then the stone veneer. We recommend our stone veneer and brick veneer be installed with Type S mortar. Mortar is recommended for installation opposed to an adhesive as mortar is cheaper than adhesive, and when installing with an adhesive you must hold the stone in place until the adhesive sets which really slows down installation time, whereas mortar instantly holds. Please let us know if you have any more questions!

  • Where can I see your stone?

Thank you for your question and interest in our stone veneer. We have several images on our website, however you can see all of our images on our Pinterest gallery https://www.pinterest.com/blackbearmountainstone. All of our completed installation images are customer submitted and they are true to color, we do not enhance or manipulate our photos at all. There may be some differences from image to image, however this variation is caused by different lighting conditions and image quality. We offer samples of all of our brick veneer and stone veneer at https://blackbearmountainstone.com/collections/samples. Our samples, on average cover a 6"x6" area and are actual product. Our samples allow you to see and touch the product and get a good understanding of weight, thickness, color and color variation, etc. We encourage all of our customers to test our samples to ensure they meet your standards and expectations, and of course if you have any questions please let us know, we are more than happy to help you! And as an added bonus when you purchase Black Bear Mountain Stone samples, we cover the shipping (applies to the continental USA. For orders shipping to Canada, Alaska, Hawaii, and Puerto Rico please contact us for shipping rates). You can order a sample of the specific product you are looking at here https://blackbearmountainstone.com/products/ledge-stone-aspen-sample. Please let us know if you have any more questions!

  • How much does a box of ledge stone aspen cover area wise?

Thank you for your question and interest in our stone veneer. Our ledge stone profile is not a panel system, they are individual stones. There are 10 square feet of flats per box and 7.5 lineal feet of corners per box. Please let us know if you have any more questions!

  • What is the weight of a box of stone?

Thank you for your question and interest in our stone veneer. Each 10 square foot box weighs roughly 80-90lbs and corners weigh roughly 70-80lbs per box. Each 150 square foot box weighs roughly 1450lbs. Pallet dimensions for a 150 square foot pallet are 48" x 40" x 28". Please let us know if you have any more questions!

  • If we do not like the product, can it be returned?

  • Are corner pieces sold separately?

Thank you for your question and interest in our stone veneer. Corners are not required but they offer a professional finish by wrapping perfectly around a 90 degree outside corner. If you decide to use corners you will need to calculate the lineal feet required by simply measuring the height of all outside corners as our corners are sold by the lineal foot. On each product page there are options for both flats and corners (to the right of the main product image). Please let us know if you have any more questions!

  • Hello, we are planning to have a stone veneer installed on our fireplace wall and are considering your ledge stone aspen product. I have a few questions. I have a wall area of about 12 feet wide by 16 feet high to cover. How much would I need? How soon could you ship the appropriate amount of your product to Roseland, Virginia 22967?

Thank you for your question and interest in our stone veneer. Our stone veneer is suitable for interior and exterior installations, including fireplaces. The easiest way to determine the square footage of stone veneer flats you will need is to measure the length and to measure the height of area you will be installing our stone veneer on and multiply them together to get the total square footage of stone veneer flats needed for your project. Please feel free to email us the dimensions of your project at info@blackbearmountainstone.com and we can help you estimate the number of corners and flats you will need to complete your project. Our website has a built-in freight calculator, simply add products to your cart, add your delivery address, and you will be provided with shipping options including shipping costs as well as estimated delivery times. Shipping costs will vary depending on the amount of stone veneer you purchase and where the product is being shipped to. Please note that the estimated delivery times do not include production times as our items are made to order. Currently our production lead time is around four – six weeks. Please let us know if you have any more questions!

  • Hello, I am building a new fireplace surround that is 6 feet wide and 8 feet tall. I put Hardie backer board down on the studs. Now I am waiting for my ledge stone aspen stone. Based on a prior fireplace surround project I was planning to use either liquid nails heavy duty (LN-903) or extreme heavy duty (LN-907). Some DIY pages say I need to use a Type S mortar with wire drilled into the cement board, then a scratch coat applied before I can even begin adhering the veneer. This seemed like overkill for a small interior project, so I am reaching out to you to see if it is acceptable to proceed with my plan of liquid nails. Thanks for the help.

  • I have a 230 square foot area I am going to do in stone on the outside of my new house. There is 38’ of 90 degree corners. My question is, if I order corners, how many square feet does that equate to? Right now, I have no corners in my cart, but I have added 10% waste, if I change my order to ordering the corners, what do you recommend I need for flats? What is the lead time for the stone I am looking at?
